News from the Gulf CNN's Bill Hemmer - Kuwait, 2003 Desert Tank - Kuwait, 2003 Burnt-out Oil Well - Kuwait, 2003 Desert Tank - Kuwait, 2003

CNN's Bill Hemmer - Kuwait, 2003 Desert Tank - Kuwait, 2003 Burnt-out Oil Well - Kuwait, 2003 Desert Tank - Kuwait, 2003 Store & Forward - Kuwait, 2003 US Marines - Kuwait, 2003 Locum Productions’ shoot/edit Charles Miller is working with CNN in Kuwait, where he is embedded with the US 3rd Infantry Division. Wherever they go he’ll follow, recording events as they happen.

Charles has had to come up with some innovative techniques to keep weight down. He needs to be able to physically carry enough equipment to shoot, edit and feed his material back to CNN in Atlanta.

He’s shooting using Sony’s PD150 DVCAM camera, editing on an Apple G4 laptop using Final Cut Pro, and feeding using a software-based store and forward system on the laptop, with two M4 satellite phones.

He and correspondent Walter Rogers are also providing live reports from the field via videophone.

The kit provides mobility in challenging desert conditions and the flexibility needed on a developing news assignment. It means the job can be done with the minimum amount of equipment while maintaining the highest standards.
